"Connections is a wonderful opportunity for young people to get their teeth into new writing and explore themes and stories that have been put to paper with them in mind."
Sarah Chiswell, Wired Youth Theatre Leader

What is the National Theatre Connections Festival

The National Theatre has commissioned 10 plays by British and International writers, exploring stories from around the world to inspire young theatre companies across the UK. Connections gives young actors the chance to stage a brand new play, written for actors aged 13-19, at their home venue and at a Festival at their partner theatre with other Connections companies - enabling them to showcase their production on a regional platform, and perform in professional theatres. They also receive support at every stage of the project and advice from one of the National Theatre's directors and from their partner theatre and will receive a detailed Show Report from one of the NT's Directors.

Journey To X by Nancy Harris

A group of friends have formed a new band. Now all they have to do is raise the money to get to London to audition for the world's biggest talent contest. Costumes, songs and fundraising techniques may divide opinion but one girl has a far more important choice to make. Their journey for fame and fortune is really a journey for something far less glamorous. Something their country doesn't approve of, something their parents wouldn't condone. In a culture of instant fame and talent-show "stories", the importance of life and friendship come to the fore.
A tale about friendship, a journey and the risks that teenagers take when plunged into an adult world.
Cast size 10 Age suitability 14-19
