Scene Study (Serious Intermediate Level)

Scene Study is designed for committed actors with some experience — whether trained, returning to practice, or serious amateurs — who want to deepen their craft and keep their skills active in a focused, supportive environment.

In this course, you’ll be paired with a scene partner to rehearse and refine a selected duologue over four weeks, working under the guidance of tutor Daniel Finlay. Each week you’ll perform in front of the group, with the opportunity to present your scene multiple times as it develops.

This is a hands-on rehearsal process. You’ll benefit not only from clear, constructive direction, but also from watching other actors’ work evolve — an essential part of learning at this level.

Before the first session, you and your scene partner will choose a 2–3 minute scene to explore across the course. This can be from a play, a film, or a transcribed screen scene. Scenes should be no longer than three minutes (approximately 2–3 pages); longer material will need to be edited to fit the time frame.

This is a script-in-hand workshop, so lines do not need to be memorised.

If you already have some grounding in acting and are ready to work seriously, take risks, and strengthen your scene work in a small, focused group, this class is for you.

Places are limited to 8 participants to ensure generous performance time and individual feedback.
